Lessons Lease Shows Boarding Training Buying/Selling

Riding Lessons:
At Storeybook Farm, creating competent and safe riders is our goal.  Students learn good horsemanship both in the saddle and on the ground.  As with any sport you wish to excel in, practice and consistency are of the utmost importance.
Beginner:  a 1 hour private lesson with 30 minutes consisting of horsemanship and the other 30 minutes riding on and off the lunge line.  Students should arrive at scheduled lesson time.  Students new to horses are in this level for 1 month unless he/she has completed 1 week of horse camp at Storeybook Farm.
Advanced Beginner:  a 1 hour group lesson with 1-4 students.  At this level the students may wish to arrive 15 minutes earlier than scheduled lesson time to begin grooming the horse. Trainer will assist in tacking.
Intermediate:  a 1 hour group lesson.  Students at this level will be competent in preparing their own mounts.
Advanced:  Also a 1 hour group lesson.
*Thirty minute private lessons are available upon request
*Adults and children 6 years and up are welcome.
Tuition:
Tuition is paid on a monthly basis, due on the first lesson of each month.  Tuition must be paid each month to hold your place in the lesson schedule.  We operate our calendar year following the school year; August-July.  A new calendar will be provided each year at the end of July.  We have totaled up the number of lessons you will receive each year and deducted all of the scheduled holidays listed on your calendar.
Tuition fees are as follows:
If you own or lease a horse, tuition is $100/month for one lesson per week and $180 for two lessons per week.
If you will be using a lesson horse, tuition is $120/month for one lesson per week and $220 for two lessons per week.
Canceling and Rescheduling:
Since your lesson reserves time with your instructor and the exclusive use of a school horse, out of courtesy, we ask that you cancel any lessons you cannot attend at least 24 hours before the start of the lesson.  This enables someone to schedule a make-up lesson in your spot.
We are happy to reschedule any lessons canceled with notice if there has been another cancellation or there is an opening in the schedule.
Cancellations may be made by phone or in person. Call Jessica at (225) 284-9274 or Taylor at (225) 933-8450
If we (Storeybook) cancel due to lightning or personal reasons, we will schedule make up lessons.
*Classes are generally held if at all possible.
Attire:
An approved helmet is required.  You may use your own or one provided by Storeybook Farm.  Boots with a small heel and long pants are also required.  Please arrive with shirts tucked in and wear long hair tucked under your helmet.

School horse half lease program:
Cost of Lease is $300.  Due on the first of each month.  A $25 late fee will be charged if paid after the 6th.
Storeybook Farm is responsible for board, shoeing and vet care.
Lease is on a month to month basis and is automatically renewed unless written notice is given in advance.
Students may have use of the horse 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday.  Lease includes 1 lesson per week.  The other days may be used for 1 hour practice rides once a day.  Please check the lesson schedule on the board to make sure the horse is not scheduled to be used in another lesson when you want to ride.  You may wish to add additional lessons to the lease package.  Lease also grants students the use of the horse at shows attended by Storeybook Farm.
You may not allow anyone else to ride your lease horse.  Leased horse may not be taken off Storeybook Farm property without permission from management.  If the horse that the student is leasing becomes unavailable due to injury or illness, Storeybook will try to provide another horse to use during the time that the lease horse is unavailable.
*Anyone owning a horse may wish to make the horse available to be half leased.  Doing so will reduce monthly       board amount by 1/2.  Storeybook has all the needed liability waiver forms drawn up by a reputable lawyer.
