| Jessica
Storey: Owner, Manager, Head Instructor |
Jessica
has over 16 years experience with horses. As a
native of Pensacola, FL, she began her equine adventure
at the age of 8 attending local fun shows and gymkhanas.
This quickly evolved into showing hunters and eventing
across the Southern states (including Kentucky,
Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and
Florida). Jessica has a strong 4-H Horse Program
background that includes qualifying for and showing at
the state level, achieving all horsemanship levels,
receiving 4-H'er of the year award, and qualifying and
competing nationally in the 4-H horse judging
competition. She developed a love for teaching
riding while being employed as an instructor at 4-H
horse camps in FL.
Jessica is also a graduate
Pony Clubber. The highlights of those years
include competing at nationals in Lexington, KY and
clinicing with nationally recognized riders who are at
the top of the sport (such as Mark Combs and Jennifer
Brooks). She believes in passing on the Pony Club
standards and values.
Other achievements include
receiving the President's award for Sportsman of the
Year by the Pensacola Hunter Jumper Association.
Jessica has also volunteered at many therapeutic riding
academies and looks forward to establishing an approved
therapy program at Storeybook Farm.
Jessica has had the privilege
of training with some of the best instructors in and
around North Florida. She was fortunate to study
under great horsemen such as Jim Graham (short-listed
USET eventing), Dorothy Maxfield (Judge), and several
former equitation students of the world renowned George
Morris, including Anna Jane White-Mullin (author of
Judging Hunters and Hunter Seat Equitation).
After high school, Jessica took
a position as a working student and barn manager in
Louisiana. She has called LA home ever since.
Then came a small break from horses to attend LSU where
she graduated with a B.A. in English creative writing
and a minor in theater (her second love). After
graduating, she quickly sought out a barn to get back
into the horse world (Many thanks to Ashley Glisson!).
Jessica now enjoys instructing
riders of all ages and levels in the Baton Rouge and
Gonzales areas. She actively participates in
Hunter/Jumper shows with her students and horses in
training. She also continues to further her own
knowledge of horsemanship and the industry through
clinics and seminars. |
